Kalori is an Android app that estimates calories from a photo of your meal. This policy describes what the app processes. Every sentence here can be verified against the app's source code.
| Data | Purpose | Where | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
| Meal photo | To recognise the food | Downscaled on device (longest edge 1024 px, JPEG, ≤ 250 KB) and sent to the
recognition service (api.peakops.co/v1/recognize). |
On device: only a ≤ 40 KB thumbnail next to your meal record. The full
resolution photo is not stored on the device. On the server: our service provider (PeakOps) commits to processing the photo only for the duration of the request, without writing it to disk and without logging it. |
| Health data (weight, height, age, sex, activity level, weight goal, meal records) | To compute your daily calorie target and daily totals | On your device only (shared_preferences and a local
hive_ce database). |
Until you delete it. It is not sent to any server. |
| Device identifier (a random UUID generated by the app) | To count the daily free recognition quota (abuse prevention) | Generated on device; sent with the recognition request in the
X-Device header. |
On the device until you tap "Delete my data". It is not an advertising ID or a hardware ID and does not identify you as a person. |
| Advertising ID | So that Google AdMob can show ads | Processed by Google. | Subject to Google's policy. If the on-device cache shows an active Pro subscription, the ads library is never initialised and no ad request is made. After a fresh install or after "Delete my data", the ads library may be initialised during the short window before the subscription is verified through Google Play. |
| Ad consent choices (EEA, UK and Switzerland only) | Remembering your ad consent | Stored on your device by Google UMP in the IAB TCF format. | Until you uninstall, clear the app's data or change them in "Gizlilik seçenekleri" (Privacy options). |
| Subscription status | To unlock Pro features | Google Play Billing. The app only caches the "is Pro active" flag on the device. | The app never sees or stores your payment details. |
The Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect the Advertising ID, IP address (to infer approximate location), device and OS information, ad impressions/clicks, and performance and crash diagnostics, to serve and measure ads and prevent fraud. See how Google uses information from partners' apps.
In these regions the app shows a consent form via Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP). No ad request is made and the ads SDK is not started until you consent. You can change or withdraw consent at any time with the "Gizlilik seçenekleri" (Privacy options) entry on the Settings tab; ad requests stop when you withdraw. Under the GDPR the legal basis for advertising is your consent. If the on-device cache shows Pro, the ads library is not started and the form is not shown. "Delete my data" does not erase these consent choices; change them in Privacy options.
A recognition request carries only: the photo, the interface language, the
device's local date (YYYY-MM-DD, for daily quota counting), the
Pro/bonus flags, the device identifier, a timestamp and a request signature.
Your weight, height, age, goal and meal history are never sent to any
server.
Searching the food list and adding meals manually work entirely offline and
send no request at all. All nutrition values come from
assets/data/foods.json, which is bundled into the app. Fonts are
bundled too; the app never goes online to download a font.
Settings → Delete my data, after your confirmation, really deletes every meal record, your profile/goal, the counters and the device identifier (the local database is emptied, settings are cleared, and any temporary CSV file left over from an export is removed). This cannot be undone. Uninstalling the app also deletes all local data.
One exception: the subscription status cache is kept. It is not data you provided, it is a copy of the "is Pro active" flag coming from Google Play; deleting it would make a paying user see ads again.
We keep no records about you on the server, so there is no server-side data to delete.
The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from children.
